Mission San Gabriel by Kennedy

Mission San Gabriel Archangel is in Southern California. It was the 4th mission built out of the 21 missions in 1771.

Mission San Gabriel is special because it is the only mission with six bells.

The sign on the outside of the mission tells how the missions brought Christianity to California at the same time as the American Revolution.

Parts of this mission were repaired when it was damaged in the 1812 earthquake. It also had damage from the 1987 and 1994 earthquakes.

More than 6,000 Indians were buried at this mission.

Another thing that is special is that this mission is known for the biggest grapevine that is over 100 years old.

The inside of this church's chapel is green and all the decorations are in rectangles.

The priests from this church were buried in the floor under this tombstone. We stood on top of it.

A 4th grader wrote about the mission and it was on the wall.

Indians built this hut to live in. The Indians that lived here were the Tongva tribe.
